Homemade Wonton Soup

Tonight, I made homemade wonton soup for dinner and it was a BIG hit.  I got the recipe from a cookbook I got from Matty for Christmas called, The Loony Spoons Collection.  The authors are Janet and Greta Podleski, of whom I am a huge fan of pretty much every recipe of theirs I’ve ever tried.

Here’s the recipe:

The recipe for the wonton filling was SO good.  We found that it really tasted close to the flavor you get in wonton soup from a restaurant.  This part was what took the most amount of time.  The recipe called to make 30 of these, which equaled 6 portions of soup.

I had never used wonton wrappers before, but I actually found them really easy to work with.  My only negative is that this whole process was quite time consuming.

About 30 minutes later, and I had 30 pretty little wontons.

The broth was super easy and quick to make.

This is one portion of the soup.  It was quite filling, so the other four servings were packed in the fridge for quick lunches for the next few days!

Matt testifies: “It’s a winner.”
